NOTHING tastes better than a hot drink in the winter, and now Aldi has started selling hot chocolate pods tasting of Twix and Mars.

Each pack of eight will set you back £2.99, but you’ll only be able to find them in Aldi stores.

The Mars pods are described as the perfect combination of chocolate, nougat and caramel, so we’d expect a sweet explosion of caramel biscuit from the Twix version.

According to the packaging, you can put the pods in your Dolce Gusto coffee machine, but you may also be able to use them in other similar designs although you should double-check this in advance.

Each cup of goodness contains just over 70 calories, so it’s not to bad of a treat even if you’re keeping a close eye on your waistline.

If you’re a Malteser fan, Aldi is also selling the treats as hot chocolate pods for the same price.

Other hot chocolate pods on sale is Tassimo’s Cadbury versions, currently setting shoppers back £3 for a pack of eight at Tesco and Ocado.

While Sainsbury’s is selling an Oreo version for £4.

Dolce Gusto machines usually cost from £29.99 so if you don’t have one and don’t want to splash out either, Asda’s hot chocolate powder tasting of salted caramel could be just as good as an alternative hot drink.

Last year, Tesco started selling a Galaxy white hot chocolate.

Meanwhile, brand name coffee shops are serving hot chocolates with shocking high levels of sugar, it has been revealed.

And the Cadbury white Creme egg hunt has been branded “annoying” and “stupid” by shoppers due to unwrapped chocolate.

Asda now sells a giant Malteser cake – and you can smash it open to reveal more treats
